Douglas originates from the regions of the west coast of North-America and was introduced in the Netherlands around 1850. The timber of the Douglas which originates from North-America is sold in Europe under the name ‘Oregon pine’. Timber of Douglas that is grown in Europe is sold under the name ‘Douglas’. The colour of the core of Douglas is light reddish to brown-red. Douglas is, even as larch, one of the most durable coniferous wood species from European forests.
